Bavaria. What to do in Allgäu map

What to do in Allgäu? Hiking, climbing montains, visiting palaces. In Allgäu there are such tourist monsters as Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Füssen, but no less interesting for hikers and natur lovers are Oberstdorf mountains and the Zugspitze Arena (around Reutte).

1. Illerbeuren, Kronburg

The Swabian Open Air Museum at Illerbeuren is a large museum (over 30 houses) showing the history of Swabian rural life, link.

Kronburg is a privately owned castle. You can look outside or arrange an excursion with the baron (up to 15 people – lump-sum 130 euros) link.

2. Bad Wurzach

Thermal pool. The bog trail in a nature reserve. Peat Museum. Little train (link).

17. Füssen, Schwangau

There are two Ludwig 2 castles in Schwangau (the time of the tour is indicated at the ticket office, which is not at the castle, but by the lake!). Thermal pool.

19-20. Ettal, Oberammergau

Linderhof

In a gorge on a wooded slope, there is the best (magnificent not only outside, but also inside) Ludwig 2 palace – Linderhof – with a park, where you should definitely look into the pavilions. The time of the tour of the palace is indicated on the ticket.

If you go by car from Austria, it is worth stopping at the Plansee Lake (boats).

In the Ettal monastery you can see a church and a cheese dairy.

There are two cable cars in Oberammergau (one of them is a chairlift).
